24th June - Our team are going to climb 24 peaks in the Lake District in 24 hiking hours (12 hours on day one, 12 hours on day two).
All of our lives have been affected by the unforgiving illnesses of cancer, and at The Chapel of our 5 team members who have battled one form or another, 3 were taken from us far too young. We promised to do huge things for our beloved team members and currently affected guests, beginning last year with the Cycle 4 Cancer to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research UK and the Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre. With your support last year we smashed that target with just over £63,000 and we’d love to do something amazing again in 2017. This year in the form of hiking 24 peaks in the Lake District in 24 hours, we want to raise £10,000 for Breast Cancer Kent who support not only individuals suffering cancer but also fund research too.
We raise money to help anyone affected by breast cancer in the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust catchment area. We buy the things the NHS can't buy: a specialist study day for the breast care nurses, a taxi for an elderly lady after a late evening clinic, a tomosynthesis scanning machine which will revolutionise the diagnosis of breast cancer. Most of us know someone who has been affected by this disease - now is your chance to do something to help.
This is the equivalent to climbing Mont Blanc in 24 hours. All peaks range between 2400ft up to 3208ft equivalent to 31 mountainous miles or to 52 flat miles according to Naismith’s rule or the same as 2 back-to-back marathons.
We may not be athletes but we're pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones! Your support and donations are hugely appreciated.
We would also like to massively thank Halina Nicholson-Smith from Ashdown Nordic for her enormous donation of time and effort in training our team for the hike.
Our huge gratitude also goes to Charlie Simpson at Design Bare for helping us brand and create this website and logo for this charity event.
